Home grown treats from my garden
Our garden has started producing lots of lovely things for us to eat.
The strawberry patch started ripening this week, today was our 3rd productive day, and it produced a good half-bowl-full today. There is masses of fruit this year, best year ever by the looks of it, and we should get a full bowl of strawberries every day for the next month.
Also today, most people treat dandelions in the garden as weeds - but I eat them.
I had ‘organic’ local (my garden!), seasonal (it’s summer!) dandelion leaves in my breakfast (with scrambled eggs), and lunch (salad) and dinner (salad again) today. Also chives from my garden in my salad to add a little spice, and fresh mint leaves (my mint is in abundance again this year) for making mint tea - just stick half a dozen leaves in a cup and pour on boiled water.
Great day today - I love free food! Thanks Mother Nature!
